The first time this year I’ve been skating

The sun was shining and I felt driven to go to the track to skate some rounds this morning. Actually it’s been the first time in months. So today is a special day for me!

As some of you know I had some trouble with my leg since last May. It started one or two weeks after a crash where I had a tearing pain in the back of my knee. I went several times to different orthopaedists who told me that there was nothing. I took a break of two weeks and got again a tearing pain after skating a couple of kilometers. Back to the orthopaedist who told me again that there was nothing. Then I decided to go to no doctors anymore for a while as long as they just said that everything is fine with my leg. I took a longer break then and started skating end of July again. I also participated to some races. I didn’t have any pain during the races.

I also noted an inflammation of my Achilles tendon mid-September. The tearing pain also came back over and over. In a few words: the problems became bigger. From then on I didn’t do any sports for three months. In January this year I started with cycling. No problems at all but while walking I still had this f***ing tearing pain for further two months. Since three weeks it seems the problems are going away thankfully to my physiotherapist.

Hopefully I can start my training now and hopefully the pain doesn’t come back.

Second-place finish

Yes. The race was cool. I didn’t win the race but I’m happy with my second place. On the last few meters I tried to get ahead to the first one but I couldn’t speed up enough. I was only 63 hundredth of a second behind the winner.

By the way the winner from this year also won the race last year. There won’t be hat-trick next year!

Ankle irritations

Four days left to Inlinerdays. Since today I have ankle irritations that will disappear hopefully till Sunday. I’m fit physical as well as mental. I think my average speed will be 29 km/h. As I saw in my last two intervall trainings I’m able to accelerate to 34 km/h in the finish sprint.

My goal is to win that race.

Skate Night No 2

Fiveteen kilometers through Kaiserslautern. I had a lot of fun. I’ll put some pictures and movies online soon.

Next week I’m participating on the skate night in Hockenheim. I’m looking forward to it. Wide road. No speed limitation. Good tarmac. :)

My fastest run

In this evening I was running and I really felt a bit under the weather. That’s why I didn’t want to run too fast. But at the end I took a look at my watch (left in my car) and I couldn’t beleive it. It was my fastest run I ever had. Ok I’m still a beginner but I’m happy about 24:19 for my today’s five kilometer run.
